Camshaft
Remove & Install Camshaft 1210-010
Start By:
a.
remove rocker shaft assemblies and push rods
b.
remove governor
c.
remove side cover and camshaft followers ( if it is not
necessary to remove the lifters, the roller lifters may
be wired to hold them up off of the camshaft lobes)
d.
remove front pulley and damper
Fluid Spillage Containment
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and
repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with
suitable containers before opening any compartment or
disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to
"Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and
supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar
machines. Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and
mandates.
NOTE:
Turn the engine to top center, (TC), compression
stroke for the No. 1 piston.

Remove bolts (1), cover (2) and the gasket. Two bolt
(6) hold the air compressor, hydraulic pump, etc. to the
rear face of the front housing. The components must be
supported in position prior to removal of bolts (6).
