NOTICE
When lifting the cylinder head assembly, care must be
taken to keep the cylinder head assembly level to prevent
damage to the two cylinder head-to-block dowels. Also,
take care not to damage the governor while removing and
installing the cylinder head assembly.

Lift the cylinder head assembly off the block. The
weight of the cylinder head assembly can range from
approximately 50 kg (110 lb) for the 3114 to 85 kg (187
Ib) for the 3116 and 3126.
NOTE: The following steps are for the installation of the
cylinder head assembly.

Thoroughly clean the cylinder head and block surfaces.
4.
Position the head gasket and the cylinder head onto the
dowels in the block. Lower the cylinder head onto the
block.
5.
Put 4C-5593 Thread Lubricant, clean engine oil, or 6V-
4876 Molykote Paste Lubricant on the threads of bolts
(1). Install and tighten the bolts as follows:

a.
Tighten large bolts (1) in the number sequence s hown
to a torque of 150 ± 15 N m (110 ± 11 lb ft).
b.
Tighten large bolts (1) again in the number sequence
shown to a torque of 435 ± 20 N m (320 ± 15 lb-ft).
c.
Tighten large bolts (1) once more, in the number
sequence shown to a torque of 435 ± 20 Nm (320 ±
15 b-ft).
d.
Tighten small bolts (2) in the number sequence
shown to a torque of 55 ± 7 N m (41 ± 5 Ib-ft).
