Valve Seat Inserts
Remove & Install Valve Seat

Start By:
a.
remove cylinder head assembly
b.
remove inlet & exhaust valves
1.
Use Tool (A) and remove valve seat inserts (1).
NOTE:
The following steps are for the installation of the
valve seat inserts.
2.
Lower the temperature of the of the new valve seat
inserts. Use Tooling (A), and install valve seat inserts
(1) in the cylinder head.
3.
Once the valve seat inserts are installed, they must be
ground to final specification. See Guideline For
Reusable Parts And Salvage Operation, SEBF8184 for
final specifications.

Fluid Spillage Containment
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and
repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with
suitable containers before opening any compartment or
disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to
"Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and
supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar
machines. Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and
mandates.
NOTE:
For removal and installation of the unit injector
sleeves in the cylinder head, refer to Tool
Operating Manual NEHS0675.
NOTE:
After Installing a new sleeve, be sure to ream the
seat surface to assure good sealing of the
injector.
