NOTE:
There are different rocker arm mechanisms used
which have different length push rods. The
correct parts must be used together. Refer to the
"Valve
Rocker
Arms
And
Lifters"
in
the
Specifications module, for specific information.
Refer to the Parts Manual for the correct parts in
each application.
1.
Remove four bolts and remove rocker shaft mounts (1),
the rocker arm assemblies and the push rods.
2.
Inspect all rocker shaft pads for wear or damage.
Check adjusters (2) and (3) in the three rocker arms.
Check bearing (4), retaining ring (5) and button (6) in
the unit injector rocker arm.
NOTE:
The following steps am for the installation of the
rocker arm assemblies.

Replace all worn or damaged rocker shaft parts.
4.
Loosen all of the adjusting screws. Install the push
rods. Position rocker shaft assemblies and install the
bolts. For each assembly, torque four bolts evenly to a
torque
of
33 ± 7 N m (25 ± 5 lb ft). Check the unit injector timing
dimension and the valve rocker arm clearance. Adjust
according to the Systems Operations, Testing And
Adjusting module.
