Record the dimension that is stamped on the side of
Tool (D). This dimension is the distance from the top
of plate (45) to the top of Tool (D). Call this
dimension (W).

Use a Starrett Vernier Height Gauge or a similar tool
to measure the dimension in Step k.
k.
Measure the distance from the top of the surface plate
to the top of Tool (D). Record this dimension, and call
it dimension (X).
CALCULATION:
Dimension (X) - Dimension (W) = Dimension (Y)
Dimension (Y) is the lift-off limitation height without
shim (32).
NOTE:
The correct lift-off limitation height of the pump
must be 99.96 ± 0.1 mm (3.935 ± .004 in). Call this
height dimension (Z).
CALCULATION:
Dimension (Z) - Dimension (Y) = Thickness of shim (47) to
obtain correct lift-off limitation height.

Use the correct shim (47) to obtain correct liftoff
limitation height.

Install correct shim (47), three belville washers (40)
balljoint (46), pistons (38) and plate (45) in cylinder
block (48).
19.
Turn the pump housing on its side, and install cylinder
block assembly (32) in the pump housing. Hold cylinder
block assembly (32) on shaft (33), and position the
pump housing as shown.
