Ether Starting Aid Nozzles
Remove & Install Ether Starting Aid
Nozzles 1456-010
1.
Remove the ether starting aid nozzle (1) from top of the
air inlet manifold.
NOTE:
The following steps are for the installation of the
ether starting aid nozzles.
NOTICE
At the time of assembly, install the ether starting aid
nozzles in a manner to direct the spray parallel to the inlet
air heater, if equipped (See arrows in preceding
illustration). The nozzle has a "dot" to indicate the
direction of spray.
NOTICE
The atomizer has two ports (180 degrees apart) that must
be aimed parallel to the length of the block.
2.
Install ether starting aid nozzle (1). The minimum
seating torque for the ether starting aid nozzle is
2.8 Nm (25 Ib-in).

Inlet Manifold
Remove & Install Inlet
Manifold 1058-010
Start By:
a.
remove valve cover
1.
Remove the air inlet piping from the turbocharger,
(including the aftercooler, if equipped).
2.
Remove bolts (1) and the washers that hold inlet
manifold (2) to the cylinder head assembly. Remove
the inlet manifold and gasket.
NOTE:
The following steps are for the installation of the
inlet manifold.
3.
Be sure the mating surfaces of the inlet manifold and
the cylinder head assembly are thoroughly clean.
4.
Position the gasket, inlet manifold (2) and install bolts
(1). Torque bolts down evenly to 28 ± 7 Nm (21 ±
5 lb-ft), starting at the center bolts and working out to
each end.
