NOTE:
If the outer bolt holes of the flywheel are to be
used, it will be necessary to drill and tap the new
ring gear. Use the flywheel as a template and drill
twelve holes to a diameter of 8.2 mm (.32 inch).
Thread the holes with a 3/8-16 NC tap.

Fasten a hoist to flywheel (2), and put it in position on
the guide bolt that has been threaded into the rear of the
crankshaft. Slide the flywheel in position against the
rear of the crankshaft.
6.
Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock on the threads of eight
bolts (1). Line up the mark on the flywheel, indicated by
an arrow, and the mark on the crankshaft. Install seven
bolts (1) and the washers that hold the flywheel to the
rear of the crankshaft. Remove the guide bolt, and
install the remaining bolt (1) and the washer. Tighten
the bolts to a torque of 120 ± 20 N m (90 ± 15 Ib-ft).

Check the flywheel runout. See the topic "Flywheel
Runout" in the Specifications module.

Start By:

remove flywheel
b.
remove crankshaft rear seal group
1.
Fasten a hoist to flywheel housing (1).
2.
Remove twelve bolts (2) that hold the flywheel housing
to the cylinder block. Remove the flywheel housing.
The weight of the flywheel housing is 32 kg (70 Ib).
NOTE:
The following steps are for the installation of the
flywheel housing.
3.
Be sure the mating surface of the flywheel housing and
the cylinder block are thoroughly clean.
NOTE:
Apply 1U-8846 Gasket Maker to the entire cylinder
block mounting face of the flywheel housing prior
to installation.
4.
Install the flywheel housing in the reverse order of
removal.
