Remove Crankshaft Wear Sleeve

* If an engine is equipped with a 7C-3570 (Dry) or a
7C-7589 (Wet) Seal Group, use a 4C-4869 Distorter Ring to
remove the crankshaft wear sleeve.
** If an engine is equipped with a 115-4109 (Dry) or a 115-
4120 (Wet) Seal Group, use a 5P-7314 Distorter Ring to
remove the crankshaft wear sleeve.
NOTE: New engines from the factory do not have a wear
sleeve. Parts service seal groups all have a wear
sleeve.
Start By:
a.
remove flywheel
b.
remove crankshaft rear seal
NOTICE
If the wrong distorter tool is used, crankshaft wear sleeve
removal may be difficult or damage to the crankshaft
could result.
1.
Install Tool (A) or (B) in the bore for the crankshaft rear
seal as shown.
2.
Install Tool (C) between Tool (A) or (B) and the
crankshaft wear sleeve. Turn Tool (C) until the edge of
the tool makes a crease in the crankshaft wear sleeve.
Repeat this in two more locations around the crankshaft
wear sleeve until the sleeve is loose.
3.
Remove Tool (C), Tool (A) or (B) and the crankshaft
wear sleeve from the end of the crankshaft.

Typical Example
1.
Loosen the tension on water pump drive V-belt (1), and
remove it from the engine. Remove eight bolts (2) and
damper (3) from the crankshaft pulley if so equipped.
2.
Remove four bolts (4), the washer and crankshaft pulley
(5) from the end of the crankshaft.
