Fluid Spillage Containment
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and
repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with
suitable containers before opening any compartment or
disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to
"Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and
supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar
machines. Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and
mandates.

Typical example
1.
Using Tool (A), remove fuel filter (6).
2.
Disconnect hose assembly (2) from the breather
assembly (1).
3.
Disconnect two tube assemblies (3) and (4) from the
fuel filer base. Cap and plug all connections.
4.
Remove the four bolts (5) and the washers that hold the
fuel filter base to the engine. Remove the fuel filter
base and gasket from the engine.
5.
Remove breather assembly (1) and the O-ring seal from
the fuel filter base. Remove the O-ring seal from the
breather assembly (1).
