NOTE:
The following steps are for the installation of the
piston cooling jets.
NOTICE
Be sure piston cooling jets (2) are seated properly prior to
tightening bolt (1) that holds it.
3.
Put piston cooling jet (2) in position in the cylinder block.
4.
Be sure the piston cooling jet is seated properly; then
install bolt (1) that holds the jet in position.
NOTICE
Hold piston cooling jet in position when the mounting bolt
is tightened. If the piston cooling jet is not held in
position, the cooling jet may bend or break.
5.
Install the remainder of the piston cooling jets as in
Steps 3 and 4.

Fluid Spillage Containment
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and
repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with
suitable containers before opening any compartment or
disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to
"Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and
supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar
machines. Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and
mandates.
NOTE:
The procedure which follows is for engines
equipped with one piece pistons and two piece
articulated pistons.
