One Piece Piston Illustrated
NOTICE
Verify for the correct assembly of the pistons and
connecting rod assemblies. On the one piece piston, be
sure the stamped word "FRONT" and the hand etched
cylinder numbers on the rod and rod cap are in position as
illustrated. The hand etched number on the rod and rod
cap designates the cylinder in which it should be installed.
The two piece piston is not stamped with the word
"FRONT". Piston orientation to the rod is not necessary
on the two piece piston.

Replace rod bearing (6), by pressing new bearing into
place.
8.
Put piston (2) in position on connecting rod (4). Coat
pin (2) with clean engine oil and install. Install retainer
rings (1) with Tool (A). Make sure the retainer rings are
in the grooves of piston (3).

a.
remove engine balancer group (3114 Engines)
b.
remove engine oil pump (six-cylinder engines)
1.
Remove bolts (1), the washers and bearing cap (2).
Remove the lower main bearing half from the cap.
