MAINTENANCE ALLOCATION CHART
FOR
ROLLER, PNEUMATIC TIRED, VARIABLE PRESSURE,
SELF-PROPELLED (CCE)
S e c t i o n I.
INTRODUCTION
1.  General:  T h i s Maintenance Allocation Chart designates responsibility
f o r performance of Maintenance functions to specific Maintenance categories

Maintenance functions:
a . I n s p e c t :  T o determine the serviceability of an item by comparing
its physical, mechanical and/or electrical characteristics with established
s t a n d a r d s through examination.
b.  T e s t :  T o v e r i f y s e r v i c e a b i l i t y a n d d e t e c t i n c i p i e n t f a i l u r e s b y
measuring mechanical or electrical characteristics of an item and
c o m p a r i n g those characteristics with prescribed standards.
c . S e r v i c e :  O p e r a t i o n s required periodically to keep  a n item in
p r o p e r o p e r a t i n g c o n d i t i o n , i . e . , t o c l e a n ( d e c o n t a m i n a t e ) , to preserve,
to drain, to paint, or to replenish fuel, lubricants, hydraulic fluids,
o r compressed air supplies.
d.  A d j u s t :  T o m a i n t a i n , w i t h i n p r e s c r i b e d l i m i t s , b y b r i n g i n g i n t o
p r o p e r or exact position, o r b y s e t t i n g t h e o p e r a t i n g c h a r a c t e r i s t i c s t o
s p e c i f i e d parameters.
e.  A l i g n :  T o adjust specified variable elements of an item to bring
about optimum or desired performance.
f .  C a l i b r a t e :  To determine and cause corrections to be made or to
be adjusted on instruments or test measuring and diagnostic equipment used
in precision measurement.  Consists of comparisons of two instruments, one
o f which is a certified standard of known accuracy, to detect and adjust
any discrepancy in the accuracy of the instrument being compared.
g.  I n s t a l l :  The act of emplacing, s e a t i n g
or fixing into position
an item, part, or module (component or assembly)
in a manner to allow the
p r o p e r functioning of an equipment or system.
h.  Replace:  T h e act of substituting a serviceable like type part,
subassembly, or module (component or assembly) for an unserviceable
counterpart.
i .  R e p a i r :  T h e application of maintenance services or other mainte-
n a n c e actions to restore serviceability to an item by correcting specific
d a m a g e , fault, malfunction, or failure in a part, subassembly, module
(component or assembly), end item, or system.
