TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE
SYMPTOM
OIL LEAKING FROM EXHAUST
MALFUNCTION
Turbocharger Damaged.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
Raise operator platform (Volume 2, WP 0235).
2.
Loosen clamp and remove inlet hose from turbocharger (WP 0121).
3.
Inspect impeller for cracks.
4.
The impeller should spin freely.
NOTE
Acceptable impeller shaft end play is 0.001-0.004 inches (0.03-0.10 mm).
Acceptable impeller shaft radial play is 0.003-0.006 inches (0.08-0.15 mm).
5.
Measure impeller shaft play.
a.
If impeller is restricted, perform the following:
(1)
Remove restriction.
(2)
Install hose on turbocharger and tighten clamp (WP 0121).
(3)
Lower operator platform (Volume 2, WP 0235).
b.
If turbocharger impeller is cracked, does not spin freely, or has too much play, replace
turbocharger (WP 0121).
c.
If turbocharger is OK, notify supervisor that oil is leaking into exhaust.
