and then with the nozzle pointed down. This operation builds up pressure in the air chamber and forces the
fluid to flow in a strong and steady stream when it is released.
(4) Continue to work the pump handle (1) up and down and direct the stream of the fluid on the fire at the base
of the flame.
Caution: Do not attempt to extinguish a fire in electrical equipment with water or other fluids that will
conduct electricity.
d. Recharging.
(1) Recharge the fire extinguisher at least once a year and after each use.
(2) Remove the filler cap (5, fig. 13) on the top of the fire extinguisher body.
Caution: Carbon tetrachloride fumes are toxic. Avoid excessive inhaling and see that the room is properly
ventilated.
