NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained
during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing,
adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect
the fluid with suitable containers before opening any
compartment or disassembling any component containing
fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools
and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable
to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and
mandates.

Frame Lock Pin and Articulation Yoke
(1) Lock pin. (2) Yoke.
1.
Apply the parking brake.
2.
Install frame lock pin (1) in the hole that is provided in
articulation yoke (2).

Pump Pressure Test
(3) Gear pump. (4) Test Port.

Connect a 25000 kPa (3600 psi) pressure gauge to test
port (3). This pressure gauge measures the relief valve
pressure setting.
4.
Start the machine and run the engine at 2350 50 RPM
until the hydraulic oil temperature reaches 38C (100F).
5.
Turn the steering wheel to the left until the relief valve
opens. Record the reading on the gauge. The pressure
of the relief valve should be 19000 300 kPa (2750
45 psi).
6.
If the relief valve pressure setting is not correct, refer to
Steering System Troubleshooting.
