Remove the dipstickand note the oil level. Insert the dipstick.NOTE: Refer to page 2-5 for the correct amount of oilthat is used when the oil is changed. Thecorrect amount of oil determines the correctlevel of the oil in the FULL range on thedipstick.NOTICEDo not overfill the crankcase. The oil level must notreach the top of the FULL range mark or above theFULL range mark.Illustration 793. Maintain the oil level on the dipstick between theFULL RANGE mark and the ADD OIL mark. Add oilif the oil level is too low.NOTE: Operating your engine with the oil level abovethe FULL mark in the FULL range could causethe crankshaft to dip into the oil. This couldresult in excessively high operatingtemperatures. The high operatingtemperatures could result in reducedlubricating characteristics of the oil. This couldcause damage to the bearings and loss ofengine power.Add the Engine OilIllustration 801. Open the engine compartment.Illustration 812. Remove the oil filler plug (2).3. Add the oil.4. Clean the oil filler plug. Install the oil filler plug.5. Close the engine compartment.
