slowly by hand. If rough or tight spots are detected.
replace the bearing.
Examine the fan blades for cracks. Replace the fan if
the blades are badly bent, since straightening may
weaken the blades. particularly in the hub area
Remove any rust or rough spots in the grooves of the
fan pulley and crankshaft pulley. If the grooves are
damaged or severly, worn, replace the pulleys.
Assemble Hub and Adjusting Bracket
IN-lLINE ENGINES (FORMER):
Refer to Fig. 4 and 8 and assembles the fan hub and
adjusting bracket as follows:
1. Press the shaft and bearing assembly into the
adjusting bracket by applying pressure on the outer
race of the bearing, using a suitable sleeve, until the
bearing is flush with the pulley end of the bracket.
2. Measure the shaft diameter and the pulley bore It
is important that a .001"
.002" press fit be
maintained. Then support the bearing end of the shaft
and press the fan huh (pulley) on the shaft to the
original dimension taken during disassembly. This
will assure proper alignment and clerance of the
Parts.
