INSTALLATION OF CONVERTER
a. Assemble the pump, making sure that the
flathead screw in the rear face of the pump is
b. Soak the pump gasket in oil and install in
the front face of the case. Attach the oil pump
to the case with the four capscrews and

a. Place the control valve assembly on top
of the case in the proper position, using five
o-rings between the valve body and case and a
new gasket. The shift crank is on the right side
of the housing.

b. Carefully lower the cluster gear assembly

h o l d it so that it will be out of the way for
gasket seal (or equivalent) on threads of the
c. Oil the seal rings, bearings, and clutch

plates in the shaft andclutch assembly prior to
installation in the case.

d. Slide the shaft and clutch assembly into
the case, being very careful not to damage the
seal rings at the head of the assembly.

e. Lower the cluster gear assembly in place
and install a thrust washer at each end. Align
the cluster gear, bearings, and thrust washers
from each end of the case to allow the cluster
gear shaft to drop freely through.
f. Insert the cluster gear shaft through the
case and cluster gear assembly.
CAUTION: Make sure that the large end of the
shaft is toward the rear of the case.
The shaft should slip freely through
until it starts to enter the front end
of the case.
g. lnstall a lock ring over the rear ball
bearing and install the output shaft centering
